About “Trullion”

Trullion--World 2262 of the Alastor Cluster--was a waterworld with fens, mists, and islands surrounded by clear oceans. Its native Trill were carefree and easygoing. However, their peaceful life was disrupted by raids from the Starmenters, a group of galactic pirates. The Trill also participated in a planetwide game called hussade, where they gambled everything, even their lives, on a hazardous water-chessboard. The prize for winning was the body of a beautiful sheirl-maiden, a prize that Trills were willing to die for. The story is set on Trullion and explores the culture and dangers faced by the Trill. It was written by Jack Vance and published in 1973.
