About “Status of the burrowing owl (Speotyto cunicularia hypugaea) in Alberta”

The burrowing owl (Speotyto cunicularia hypugaea) is a small, long-legged owl species native to open landscapes across North and South America. It inhabits grasslands, rangelands, agricultural areas, deserts, and other open, dry regions with low vegetation, relying on burrows for nesting and roosting. These burrows are typically abandoned by other animals such as badgers, foxes, ground squirrels, or prairie dogs, as the owls do not construct them themselves.
