Radcliffe Emerson, an archaeologist known as "Father of Curses," and his wife Amelia Peabody, also an archaeologist and Egyptologist, find themselves excavating in a remote area after being denied permission to dig at the pyramids of Dahshoor. Their work is uneventful until an antiquities dealer is murdered in his shop. A mysterious stranger, a scrap of papyrus, and a missing mummy case spark Amelia's interest. As the Emersons investigate an ancient tomb, the situation becomes dangerous and deadly, revealing modern threats that may prove fatal.
