Cassie, a member of the Animorphs, is exhausted from the constant battles and decides to quit the group. She can no longer cope with the responsibilities of being an Animorph. However, her decision is complicated by the fact that a human-Controller has been following her after their last encounter with the Yeerks. This person knows that Cassie is either an Andalite or a human, adding a new layer of danger to her situation. The novel explores Cassie's internal struggle and the growing threat from the Controller. It is part of a 1998 book series by Katherine Applegate.
