Abū Ḥayyān Muḥammad ibn Yūsuf was an Andalusian Sunni Islamic scholar known as Abū Ḥayyān al-Gharnati. He was the leading commentator on the Quran and the foremost Arabic grammarian of his era, as well as a recognized expert in Islamic jurisprudence, hadith, and history. He was born in 1256 and died in 1344.
