Abbas-Kuli-aga Bakikhanov was an Azerbaijani writer, historian, journalist, linguist, poet, and philosopher. He was the son of the third khan of Baku, Mirza Muhammad Khan II, and served as an officer in the Imperial Russian Army, participating in the Russo-Persian War of 1826–1828. After retiring, he settled in Quba and dedicated himself to scholarly and literary pursuits. He was born in 1794 and died in 1847.
