Abu l-Futuh al-Razi was a Twelver Shi'ite Muslim theologian and author from a Khorasanian Arab family originally from Nishapur, part of the Khuza'a tribe. He was known as Abu al-Futuh al-Razi or Abu al-Futuh Jamal al-Din al-Razi al-Nisaburi, and his family had settled in Nishapur after the Muslim conquest. His great-grandfather was a companion of the Prophet Muhammad, and his grandfather had moved to Rayy. He was born in 1087 and died in 1157.
