Muhammad ibn Abd al-Jabbar al-Utbi, known as al-Utbi, was a medieval Arab historian, poet, and courtier. Born in Rayy, he worked as a secretary and courtier for various rulers, including the Turkic general Abū ʿAlī Simjūr, the Ziyarid ruler Qabus ibn Wushmagir, and the Ghaznavid Sabuktigin. He is the author of the history known as the Tarikh Yamini.
