Alan Grafen is a Scottish ethologist and evolutionary biologist who currently teaches and undertakes research at St John's College, Oxford. He is known for his work in biological game theory and for co-editing the 2006 festschrift Richard Dawkins: How a Scientist Changed the Way We Think. Grafen devised a model in 1990 demonstrating that Zahavi's handicap principle could exist in natural populations. He is a British biologist.
