Alasdair Chalmers MacIntyre, born 12 January 1929, was a Scottish philosopher known primarily for his contributions to moral and political philosophy, as well as the history of philosophy and theology. His book After Virtue (1981) is widely recognized as one of the most important works of Anglophone moral and political philosophy of the 20th century.
