Albert Uderzo
1927–2020·French
Albert Uderzo (1927–2020) was a French comic artist and writer best known for co-creating the beloved Asterix series alongside writer René Goscinny in 1959. Born in Fismes, France, to Italian immigrant parents, he went on to illustrate dozens of Asterix albums and, after Goscinny's death in 1977, also took over the writing duties. His richly detailed humor-filled artwork helped make Asterix one of the most widely read comic book series in the world.
