Aleksandr Trifonovich Tvardovsky was a Soviet poet and writer who served as chief editor of the literary magazine Novy Mir from 1950 to 1954 and again from 1958 to 1970. During his editorship, the magazine published Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn's One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich. Tvardovsky is best known for his epic poem Vasili Tyorkin. He lived from 1910 to 1971.
