Andrea da Barberino was an Italian writer and cantastorie of the Quattrocento Renaissance, born in Barberino Val d'Elsa near Florence. He is known for his prose romance epic Il Guerrin Meschino, I Reali di Francia, and Aspramonte, which drew from Franco-Italian works and the Matter of France. His writings, which circulated in manuscript form, were influential and popular, serving as a source for later Italian romance writers.
