António Vieira was a Portuguese Jesuit priest, diplomat, orator, preacher, philosopher, and writer. He was a member of the Royal Council to the King of Portugal and one of the most influential figures of the 17th century in political and rhetorical affairs. Vieira was also a missionary who worked in Brazilian territories. His sermons hold significant importance in Baroque literature in both Brazil and Portugal. Vieira lived from 1608 to 1697.
