Arthur Janov was an American psychologist, psychotherapist, and writer who developed primal therapy, a treatment for mental illness that involves reliving and experiencing repressed childhood pain. He founded the Primal Institute in West Hollywood and later established the Janov Primal Center in Venice, Los Angeles, and Santa Monica. Janov was active in psychotherapy throughout his career and is recognized for his contributions to psychological treatment. He was born in 1924 and died in 2017.
