Ashraf 'Ali Thanwi (August 19, 1863 – July 4, 1943) was an Indian Sunni Muslim scholar associated with the Deobandi school. He graduated from the Darul Uloom Deoband in 1884 and taught religious sciences in Kanpur for fourteen years. During this time, he became a respected scholar of Sufism and other subjects, attracting many students. His lectures, often delivered in cities and villages, were later printed and circulated widely, a rare practice among Islamic scholars at the time. He authored between eight hundred and one thousand works, including sermons, discussions, and books. Thanwi died in Thāna Bhāwan on July 4, 1943. His funeral prayer was led by his nephew, Zafar Ahmad Uthmānī, and he was buried in the graveyard of 'Ishq-e-Bāzān.
