Saint Athanasius of Alexandria (c. 296–373), also called Athanasius the Great, was a Christian theologian and the 20th patriarch of Alexandria. A Church Father and the chief proponent of Trinitarianism against Arianism, he was a noted Egyptian Christian leader of the fourth century whose intermittent episcopacy spanned 45 years, including five exiles ordered by four different Roman emperors.
