Avvaiyar was a Tamil poet who lived during the reign of the Chola dynasty in the 12th century, in present-day Tamil Nadu, India. Contemporaneous with Kambar and Ottakoothar, she is remembered for her Tamil didactic poetry, including Aathichoodi, Kondrai Vendhan, Nalvazhi, and Moodhurai.
