Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar was an Indian jurist, economist, social reformer, and politician who chaired the committee that drafted the Constitution of India. He served as Law and Justice minister in the first cabinet of Jawaharlal Nehru and was a member of the Simon Commission in British India. Ambedkar later renounced Hinduism and converted to Buddhism, influencing the Dalit Buddhist movement. He was born in 1891 and died in 1956.
