Beverly Jenkins is an American author known for her historical and contemporary romance novels, with a focus on 19th century African-American life. She was born in 1951 in Detroit and studied journalism and English literature at Michigan State University. Jenkins has been recognized with a 2013 NAACP Image Award nomination and was named one of the Top 50 Favorite African-American writers of the 20th century by the African American Literature Book Club in 1999. She resides in Southeastern Michigan.
