Byron Edgar Farwell was an American military historian and biographer. He graduated from Ohio State University and earned a Master of Arts from the University of Chicago. He served in World War II as a captain of engineers attached to the Mediterranean Allied Air Force and later saw combat in the Korean War before separating from the military after seven years of active duty. As a civilian, he held positions in public relations and administration, served as mayor of Hillsboro, Virginia, and contributed to numerous publications while writing biographies of notable figures.
