Charles Wright Mills was an American sociologist who taught at Columbia University from 1946 until his death in 1962. He wrote extensively for both popular and intellectual publications and is known for works including The Power Elite, White Collar: The American Middle Classes, and The Sociological Imagination. The Sociological Imagination was recognized in 1998 as the second most important sociological book of the 20th century by the International Sociological Association. Mills was born in 1916 and died in 1962.
