Candace Pauline Camp was born in Amarillo, Texas, U.S.A., the youngest of three children in a newspaper family. Her mother was a reporter and her father was the business manager of a local newspaper. She began writing stories at a young age and continued the practice throughout her life. She later worked as a secondary teacher and in a bank trust department before beginning to write romance novels.
