Charles Robert Maturin, also known as C. R. Maturin, was an Irish Protestant clergyman who was ordained in the Church of Ireland. He was also a writer known for his Gothic plays and novels. Maturin was born on 25 September 1780 and died on 30 October 1824. His most famous work is the novel Melmoth the Wanderer. He is recognized as an Irish writer who contributed to the Gothic literary tradition.
