Christine Sparks was born in England and began her career as a features writer for a British women's magazine, where she interviewed notable figures such as Warren Beatty, Richard Chamberlain, Charlton Heston, Sir Roger Moore, and Sir Alec Guinness. She later married a Venetian artist she met while on vacation in Venice, and the couple celebrated their 25th anniversary. After 13 years with the magazine, she decided to write a novel, resulting in the publication of "Legacy of Fire" as a Silhouette Special Edition, followed by "Enchantment in Venice" in 1984 under the name Lucy Gordon. She subsequently gave up her job to focus on writing.
