Edward Groff Conklin was born in New Jersey. He graduated from Columbia University in 1927. He was a science fiction anthologist who edited 41 anthologies of science fiction and also wrote books on home improvement and contributed as a freelance writer on scientific subjects. From 1950 to 1955, he served as the book critic for Galaxy Science Fiction.
