Courtney Milan is the pen name of Heidi Bond, a bestselling author of historical romance. She was raised in Southern California and began writing at a young age, though she later abandoned the ambition before returning to it. She earned a double major in mathematics and chemistry from Florida State University and a Master's degree in Physical Chemistry from UC Berkeley, where she conducted research on computer models of glassy behavior. She later graduated summa cum laude from the University of Michigan Law School, clerked for several prominent judges, and taught law at Seattle University School of Law before leaving to write full-time.
