Dara Shikoh

Dara Shikoh was the eldest son and heir-apparent of the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan. He was given the title of 'Shah-e-Buland Iqbal' by Shah Jahan and was favored as a successor by his father and sister, Princess Jahanara Begum. He was defeated by his younger brother Prince Muhiuddin in the war of succession after Shah Jahan's illness and was executed in 1659 on Aurangzeb's orders.
