Eduardo De Filippo (1900–1984) was an Italian actor, director, screenwriter, and playwright, best known for his Neapolitan works Filumena Marturano and Napoli milionaria. Regarded as one of the most important Italian artists of the 20th century, he staged and directed many of his own theatrical dramas. For his contributions to Italian culture, he was named senator for life by Italian President Sandro Pertini.
