Deborah Harkness

Deborah E. Harkness is an American historian and novelist born in 1965, best known for blending scholarly research with supernatural fiction. She is the author of the All Souls Trilogy — beginning with A Discovery of Witches — a series that weaves together alchemy, witchcraft, and vampires against a richly researched historical backdrop. Harkness is also a professor of history, and her academic expertise in early modern science and magic informs the world-building throughout her fiction.
