Dionysius Cato

1 standalone book

Dionysius Cato is the name traditionally given to the otherwise unknown author of the Distichs of Cato, a Latin collection of proverbial wisdom and morality dating from the 3rd or 4th century AD. The work became the most popular medieval schoolbook for teaching Latin, prized both as a language primer and as a moral guide. It was translated into many languages, ranked among the best-known books of the Middle Ages, and was still used in some British schools into the 19th century.
