Douglas Adams was a British author born in Cambridge on 11 March 1952, best known for creating The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy — a comedic science fiction series that began as a BBC radio broadcast before expanding into novels, television, and stage adaptations. His wit and irreverent take on existence, the universe, and everything earned him a devoted worldwide following. He died unexpectedly of a heart attack on 11 May 2001 in Santa Barbara, California, at the age of 49.
