Douglas Preston, born in 1956, is an American journalist and author. Best known for the thrillers he writes in collaboration with Lincoln Child, he has also written solo novels, including the Wyman Ford series, along with nonfiction books on science and exploration and occasional pieces for magazines such as The New Yorker and Smithsonian. His credits include the Wyman Ford novels Tyrannosaur Canyon, Blasphemy, Impact, and The Kraken Project, and the Aloysius Pendergast novels Fever Dream and White Fire.
