Edward Young was an English poet best remembered for Night-Thoughts, a series of philosophical writings in blank verse. His work reflected his state of mind following several bereavements and was one of the most popular poems of the century. It influenced figures such as Goethe and Edmund Burke and was illustrated by William Blake at the end of the century. Edward Young was born in 1683 and died in 1765.
