1 standalone book

Elizabeth Kostova is an American writer known for her novel The Historian, which explores the legend of Dracula. Her interest in the Dracula myth began in childhood, influenced by stories her father told her while the family lived in Ljubljana, Slovenia, in 1972. Her father was teaching at a local university, and the family traveled across Europe during that time. Kostova described this experience as the formative event of her childhood. She also developed an early fascination with books and libraries, encouraged by her mother, a librarian, who often took her and her sisters to the public library. The family had a special arrangement allowing each child to check out 30 books.
