Enric Prat de la Riba i Sarrà (1870–1917) was a Spanish politician, lawyer, and writer, and a key figure in the resurgence of Catalan national consciousness. He wrote the book and political manifesto La nacionalitat catalana, which advocated greater autonomy for Catalonia, and in 1914 became the first President of the Commonwealth of Catalonia, an office he held until his death.
