Frances Kofod is an Australian linguist who focuses on codifying and preserving Australian Indigenous languages of the Kimberley region. She worked as a research assistant at the University of New England and earned a Master of Arts in 1978 with a thesis on the Miriwung language. She also collaborated with the Mirima Dawang Woorlab-gerring language and Culture Centre in Kununurra. Kofod is recognized as an Aboriginal language specialist.
