Frank Hampson was a comic strip artist born near Manchester, UK. He co-founded the children's magazine The Eagle in 1949, which was published by Hulton Press, and created its most popular comic strip, Dan Dare, Pilot of the Future. He graduated from the Open University in 1978. He died in July 1985 in Surrey, England.
