Frederick Douglass (c. February 14, 1818 – February 20, 1895) was an American social reformer, abolitionist, orator, and writer. He was a prominent leader in the movement for African-American civil rights during the 19th century. Douglass was also known as an influential statesman and public speaker. He used his platform to advocate for the end of slavery and for the advancement of civil rights for African Americans. His work helped shape the national conversation on freedom, equality, and human rights.
