George Weigel is a Catholic theologian and Distinguished Senior Fellow of the Ethics and Public Policy Center, where he holds the William E. Simon Chair in Catholic Studies. He served as president of the Ethics and Public Policy Center from 1989 through June 1996, leading a program of research and publication on foreign and domestic policy issues. He is best known for his two-volume biography of Pope St. John Paul II, Witness to Hope and The End and the Beginning, as well as for his memoir Lessons in Hope. Weigel is the author of more than twenty books on religious, political, and cultural topics.
