Henri Alleg

Henri Alleg, born as Harry John Salem, was a French-Algerian journalist and a member of the French Communist Party. He directed the newspaper Alger républicain and authored the memoir La Question, which was published in 1958 by Editions de Minuit. The work brought him international recognition for his condemnation of torture during the Algerian War. He lived from 1921 to 2013.
