Hergé, the pen name of Belgian artist Georges Prosper Remi, was born on 22 May 1907 in Etterbeek, Belgium. He is best known as the creator of The Adventures of Tintin, a beloved comic book series featuring the young reporter Tintin and his dog Snowy that became one of the most popular and enduring works in European comics. Hergé's distinctive ligne claire drawing style and meticulous research influenced generations of cartoonists before his death on 3 March 1983.
