Ian J. Goodfellow is an American computer scientist, engineer, and executive noted for his work on artificial neural networks and deep learning. He is a research scientist at Google DeepMind and was previously a research scientist at Google Brain, director of machine learning at Apple, and one of the first employees at OpenAI. Among his contributions to deep learning is the invention of the generative adversarial network (GAN), and he was the first author of the textbook Deep Learning (2016).
