Idries Shah, also known as Idris Shah, was an Afghan author, thinker, and teacher in the Sufi tradition. He wrote over three dozen books on topics ranging from psychology and spirituality to travelogues and culture studies. Shah was born with the name Sayed Idries el-Hashimi and used the pen name Arkon Daraul. He was active in disseminating Sufi teachings through his writings.
