Secondino Tranquilli (1 May 1900 – 22 August 1978), known by the pseudonym Ignazio Silone, was an Italian political leader, novelist, and short-story writer. He became world-famous during World War II for his powerful anti-fascist novels. Silone was nominated for the Nobel Prize for Literature ten times. He was an Italian writer and politician who lived from 1900 to 1978.
