Iris Bromige (née White) was born in London in 1910. She married Alan Bromige in 1935 and lived in Surrey and later Sussex, England. She wrote four of her earlier novels under the name Anne Tracey. Her hobbies included gardening, collecting gramophone records of opera and the classics, colour photography, bird-watching, country walking with her husband and their dog, listening to music, attending the opera, and attempting to play the piano.
