Jacint Verdaguer i Santaló was a Spanish writer and priest, regarded as one of the greatest poets of Catalan literature and a prominent literary figure of the Renaixença. He was known as mossèn Cinto Verdaguer due to his career as a priest and was called the "Prince of Catalan poets" by the bishop Josep Torras i Bages. Verdaguer was a central figure in the cultural revival movement of the late Romantic era. He was born in 1845 and died in 1902.
