Jacqueline Briskin was an American author known for her historical novels. She was born in London, England, and moved to the United States in 1938, later becoming a naturalized citizen. She married Bertram Norman Briskin in 1948, with whom she had three children. Her first novel was sold in 1970, and she went on to publish 11 additional historical novels that were translated into 26 languages and sold 23 million copies worldwide.
