Dame Jacqueline Wilson DBE FRSL (born 17 December 1945) is an English novelist known for her popular children's literature. Her novels often address realistic topics such as adoption and divorce without losing the interest of her readers. She began her writing career in 1969 and has written over 100 books. Initially, she wrote crime fiction before turning her attention to children's literature. At the age of 40, she took A-level English and achieved a grade A. She had mixed success with about 40 books before achieving fame in 1991 with The Story of Tracy Beaker, published by Doubleday. Her children's novels frequently explore themes such as adoption, divorce, and mental illness, which have drawn controversy but also widespread affection from readers of all ages.
