James O'Hara Maloney was an American chemical engineer who taught at the University of Kansas from 1945 to 1985. He was a member of the American Chemical Society and other professional organizations. He served as an editor for several editions of Perry's Chemical Engineers' Handbook, a comprehensive reference in the field. His research focused on topics such as gas absorption, heavy water production, and heat radiation and convection. Through the Fulbright Program, he delivered lectures in Alexandria, Naples, Athens, and Gwangju.
